So, I've been thinking of making more of my models this summer in a more professional manner. I'm considering taking comissions for them and shipping them off. What's really stopping me, though, is that I'm not really sure what people would pay for them (I have a rough idea). An average model for me (like my Pyramid Head Model) takes about 4-6 hours to build and about 3 hours to paint. If I were to start taking paid comissions for them, what would you feel a reasonable price would be?

Hello to whomever is reading this email. While I know this most likely won’t get very far in the behemoth that is Disney, it would be nice to share this idea with someone there anyways. This idea concerns the Big Hero 6 property.
I’ll begin by saying that I really enjoyed the movie. It had a wonderful style to it that made it really stand out in my mind. The engineering, or “nerd”, angle also connected to me, as I was always fascinated with science and engineering from a young age. But what really stood out, what made Big Hero 6 hit so hard for me, was the emotional angle that was taken with it. Personal loss is a powerful force of in a person’s life, which this movie tackled very effectively. Two characters were motivated by similar losses, but one choose eventually to overcome the hatred brought on by this loss while the other chose to stew in his revenge fantasies. One character is redeemed, but doesn’t regain their loss while the other is not redeemed, but regains their loss. It poignantly shows how cruel and senseless the world can be sometimes. This really stood out to me. However, there was one thing that I noticed that the movie didn’t quite effectively address, something that I will touch upon later.
Now, as a college student who has spent some time in the world and has seen properties like this come about, I can take an educated guess and say that a sequel or a television show is in the works for the Big Hero 6 movie. I, for one, would be all for that, the television show especially. However, to be as emotional successful, in the literal term of succession, the follow-up would also tackle emotional issues. The most readily apparent, the one that the movie did not effectively address, was the long term emotional damage of Tadashi’s death on Hiro. Speaking from experience, the death of a loved one does not vanish over night, as it appeared to in the movie. The death of a loved one is something that only lets up after a long time, aided by counseling, the presence of friends and family, or others. This avenue of emotion would be ideal for the follow up to Big Hero 6.
So here is what I propose: go ahead with the television show. But have it focus primarily on Hiro’s emotional journey, not the adventures of the Big Hero 6 team as would be more obvious for a kids television show. Let his superhero antics be a method of his dealing with his brother’s death, not just a fun time with his friends. Let him go to counselors, and talk about how to deal with his depression. Let there be episodes where the whole goal is not to defeat some major villain, but to work up the strength to go to school, to leave the bed even. Little things remind all of us about lost friends or family. These too should be included. Have Hiro reluctant to do something with his friends because it reminds him of his brother. Have him long for the comfort of his brother’s hug. This sort of thing is something that more people in the world need in their life. Depression is not something that is simply and quickly overcome in their life. Rather depression is something that people struggle with for the rest of their lives. And what’s worse is that the people who might need it most don’t ever learn how to deal with it. Having a children’s show that tackled such issues could go a long way towards teaching them how to seek help for these problems, to show them that they are not going to be alone in those trying times. And a little bit of escapism certainly can’t hurt.
Now, as a college student, I don’t have any illusion towards weather or not any of this will be used, although I won’t ask for credit if it is. All I ask is that as much care that was put in the emotion before is invested again in whatever follows. Also, one last thing: In the final episode, where Hiro finally becomes emotionally stable, have him put on his brother’s hat and say some final touching remark about his brother. That would really hit hard.
